Bendigo Art Gallery senior curator Tansy Curtin said the amazing collection would bring people from around the state to the city.
“Some of the works have never left the UK so it is an opportunity to see some works that may never come back to Australia,” she said.
The exhibition, Ambition and Genius, features work between 1868 and 1918.
Ms Curtin said the Royal Academy was one of the most important institutions in arts history.
She said Bendigo Art Gallery would be transformed into a 'wonderful Victorian-era exhibition space'.
To complement the works, 30 significant works by Australian artists will also be exhibited.
The exhibition will be in Bendigo between March 2 and June 9, 2014.
