Gwong Loong measures in at 27 metres and will be Bendigo’s second longest dragon until Dai Gum Loong joins Sun Loong next year.
Bendigo Chinese Association secretary Brian Lougoon said it was an exciting time for the museum.
“We have been waiting and waiting and he finally arrived in crates on Monday,” Mr Lougoon said.
“It was a great time on Monday night assembling it all. When you see it put together and stretched out, it's great.
“There is a lot of work in it. We counted more than 100 individual cane hoops and each one of those has five ties on it. It's a lot of work.”
Gwong Loong will have a busy debut in Bendigo this weekend.
On Saturday morning at the Spring Festival, he will be blessed, have his eyes dotted and be officially awoken.
The new dragon will then perform in the Torchlight Procession on Saturday evening and the Gala Parade on Sunday.
“The carriers will have to be here quite early before we start the Spring Festival but it is a very exciting time,” Mr Lougoon said.
The addition of Gwong Loong to Sunday’s parade means there will be three Bendigo dragon performing as well as two dragons visiting from Darwin and Melbourne.
