Bendigo Theatre Company has picked up 13 awards for Wicked including production of the year from the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria.

The swag awards is believed to be a record for the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria with BTC's 13 awards beating out Mentone's CLOC Musical Theatre who won 12 awards in 1993 for its production of Les Miserables.
The MTGV awards recognise the efforts and excellence in community theatre productions from across the state.
Wicked's team was awarded for their efforts across the board in performance, direction, music, sound, lighting, settings and wardrobe.
BTC president and Wicked production manager Abe Watson accepted the Bruce McBrien Award for production of the year. He said he was incredibly proud of the Wicked team.
"It is a true example of people power," he said. "Awards like this are a testament to the dedication, skill, and passion of all members of the cast, production team, orchestra, and company.

Paul Watson won best direction while Matthew Dudfield won best musical direction.
Kody Austin picked up two awards for his performance as Fiyero, winning the best junior in an open production and first performance in a featured role awards.
Melissa Harrington was named best performer in a leading role for her starring role as Elphaba. The entire cast received the ensemble performance award.
Long time set designer Ken Wells and his 40-person team received the best setting award and the award for excellence for the construction of Wicked's set.
Ian Scott was award best lighting while the design team picked up the design award for the projections.
Elizabeth Young and her team were recognised for creating the show's costumes while Greg Ginger took home the award for best sound.
Bendigo Theatre Company's major show in 2020 will be Queen musical We Will Rock You.
