SAM Bonanno predicts up to 1000 people visited the Kimbolton kiosk on the weekend, as people flocked to Lake Eppalock, with water now flowing over the spillway.Mr Bonanno, who has owned the store since 2004, said it was the busiest weekend he had experienced, having to replenish supplies yesterday after only restocking on Friday. He had to send a friend to Bendigo yesterday morning to purchase some more alcohol to ensure supplies didn’t run out. By late yesterday afternoon, Mr Bonanna said he had ran out of some food such as dim sims, and chips, because of the influx of customers. “It’s been very, very busy,” he said. Mr Bonanno said people of all ages, including many families, had visited the store while seeing the lake. When he bought the kiosk six years ago, Lake Eppalock was at 10 per cent capacity, and he has seen it fall below one per cent. Mr Bonanno said customers spirits were high to see the lake now full. Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association Flotilla 5 Lake Eppalock training officer Mark Logan said he was expecting the busiest summer in 10 years. Mr Logan said he expected the lake to be quite busy after Christmas and was after more volunteers to help in the busy times. He said volunteers could assist with water patrols, training, administration tasks, or with radio communication from the tower. He said free education and training was provided. For details, phone 0439 996 008.
