The competition is held in conjunction with the Dahlia and Arts Festival, now in its seventh year.
It gives local singing hopefuls the chance to perform in front of an audience and battle it out against other acts to take home the major prize.
Ms Delves said this is the first time she has been part of competition and said she was a little bit nervous about performing in front of an audience.
The Catholic College Bendigo year 12 student said the competition would be tough and that she would put in a few hours practise beforehand.
Over 20 hopefuls auditioned for the final in early March and Festival Idol co-ordinator Alf Thorpe said only 11 acts would be choosen for the final.
Mr Thorpe said the judges had a diffcult time deciding who would make it through to the final round but said everyone should be proud for entering the competition.
Three judges have been selected to score the performances and the winning act will receive a $500 cash prize.
The audience will also judge their favourite act, with a cash prize of $250 going to the winner.
Last year’s winner Alexandra Frank will also perform at the event.
Mr Thorpe encouraged people to attend the event, which will be held in the Wes Vine Performing Arts Centre at Eaglehawk Secondary College on March 20 from 7.30pm.
He said tickets could be purchased at $15 for adults and $10 for children under 15 from the door. The Dahlia and Arts Festival will be launched tonight at 6.30pm at the Eaglehawk Town Hall. For a list of events visit www.dahlia.bendigo.net.au
