The 16-year-old ran her first Purple Day event when she was in Grade 5.
On Thursday, Samantha and her peers raised money for the Epilepsy Foundation and awareness of the condition with all things purple.
There were purple cupcakes for sale at the college, and a hint of the hue was evident in the students’ choice in accessories for the day.
Last year, Samantha raised about $1000 for the cause – a figure she hoped to exceed in 2017.
About four per cent of the people will be diagnosed with epilepsy at some stage in their lives, according to the Epilepsy Foundation.
Epilepsy is a disorder of brain function typified by recurring seizures.
A seizure is a sudden, uncontrolled electrical discharge in a group of brain cells.
Purple Day is at the heart of epilepsy awareness month and will be marked en masse on March 26.
The global day of epilepsy awareness was founded in 2008.
